PM donates Tk13.65cr to 15 organisations, individuals

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday donated a total Tk13.65 crore to 15 organisations and individuals, including Tk10 crore to Anjuman Mufidul Islam for the construction of the 15-storey Anjuman JR Tower.

The Prime Minister handed over the cheques to the authorities and persons concerned at Ganabhaban. 

She also gave Tk1 crore each to Buddhist Religious Welfare Trust and Narail District Lawyers' Welfare Fund. 

Sheikh Hasina donated Tk 25 lakh each to the families of four members of Swadhin Bangla Football Team -- Md Kaikobad, Ainul Haque, Fazle Sadain Khokon and Abdul Khaleque Sardar. 

Financial assistance was given to ailing Kaikobad for the medical expenses of the national sports award recipient and his wife, while it was also given to the ailing Fazle Sadain Khokon for his medical treatment and family expenses, to late Ainul's wife Mamataz Begum for paying her husband's treatment cost, and late Khaleque's wife Razia Khatun for meeting family expenses. 

Furthermor, Chilmari Upazila Vice-Chairman in Kurigram Md Abdul Kuddus received Tk25 lakh for his medical expenses, while director of TSP Complex Limited M Qamruzzaman got Tk10 lakh for the cost of his medical treatment. 

Sheikh Hasina Adarsha College was given Tk5 lakh for the construction of its infrastructure. 

The Prime Minister also provided Tk5 lakh each to five people who were ill, to meet their treatment cost. 

They are singer Poli Saionti, national film award recipients and makeup artists Kazi Harun and Abdur Rahman, actor Mohiuddin Bahar, and former national hockey player Asaduzzaman.  

According to the website of Anjuman Mufidul Islam, Anjuman is building a 15-storey commercial building with three basements in Kakrail in the capital, under the Anjuman JR (Jamilur Rahman) Tower Project. 

The multi-storey building will be a source of stable income for Anjuman. The building will house its head office and the Jamilur Rahman Technical Institute. 

It is estimated that the building will cost about Tk90 crore, which will have to be raised through public donations and institutional (including GoB) grants.
