Quader: There is smell of conspiracy in August's air

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quade has urged party leaders and activists to remain vigilant, saying that there is smell of conspiracy in August month’s air.

“August month is running and this month’s air smells of conspiracy. I am ordering party leaders and activists, on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, to be aware and stand beside dengue and flood affected people,” Quader said on Monday.

Quader said this while paying tribute to Sheikh Kamal at his grave in the Banani Graveyard to mark the 70th birthday of the eldest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He said: “Bangabandhu and his family members were killed in this month. The gruesome grenade attacks on Sheikh Hasina and British High Commissioner Anwar Hossain were also carried out on this month along with the bombings in 63 districts.”

The Roads Transport and Bridges minister described Sheikh Kamal as a role model, telling the youth that they can come up with innovative ideas following his example.

Sheikh Kamal was born on August 5th, 1949 at Tungipara in Gopalganj. 

He was killed on August 15th in 1975 along with his family members. Kamal was a student of Dhaka University.

The Awami League, its associate bodies and different political, socio-cultural and sports organizations held elaborate programs marking the day of his birth. 

Leaders and workers of Awami League and its associate bodies paid tribute to Sheikh Kamal by placing wreaths beneath his portrait at the Dhanmondi Abahani club premises at 8:00am and they also paid homage by placing wreaths at his grave at Banani graveyard at 9:00am.
