Police neutralize two ‘bomb-like objects’ at Paltan, Khamarbari

Police have disposed two ‘bomb-like objects’ at Paltan intersection and Khamarbari’s Bangabandhu Chattar in Dhaka.

On late Tuesday, Paltan police called in the bomb disposal unit after a mysterious bomb-like object was found at Paltan intersection. 

“At around 11pm, a bomb-like object was found inside a carton box near police box at Paltan intersection. Soon, the bomb disposal unit arrived at the scene and neutralized the object,” Shahbagh Police Station OC Abul Hasan told Dhaka Tribune.

“On information that a bomb-like object has been found near the intersection, we quickly cordoned off the area and called in the bomb-disposal unit. Later, the object was neutralized,” said Tejgaon Police Station OC Md Shamim-or-Rashid Talukdar. 

Police said the items recovered will undergo forensic tests to determine whether it was an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) or a hoax. 

A senior police official has told Dhaka Tribune that it will be investigated to check whether the incidents are connected to any conspiracies against the state.
