Aiming to bolster inter-religious ties, and build public consensus against radicalization, a four-day event styled 'Training and Development of Muslim Faith Leaders on Fostering Interfaith and Peacemaking Dialogue through Social Media' has been launched in Dhaka.
Save and Serve Foundation (SSF), a platform working for religious harmony, organized the program in association with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on Saturday.
SSF Chairman Syed Tayabul Bashar, the organizer of the event, said the main goal of the event was to create public awareness, especially among the youth, against the dark side of religious fundamentalism.
“The country is ours. So, for a better living, and peaceful atmosphere, we have to maintain, and ensure religious harmony. We cannot let our youth go astray, falling prey to religious radicalism,” he said.
“We also want to promote religious tolerance, particularly through mobilizing Islamic scholars, clerics, and leaders of different faith groups,” Tayabul said.
The opening day of the conclave was mainly focused on knowledge-sharing, where issues including Islamic views on early marriage, and dowry were discussed.
