Police have recovered the dead body of a one-day-old infant from Shahidullah Hall at Dhaka University.
Shahbagh police recovered the body around 11am on Thursday.
The body of the newborn was then taken to the morgue at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy.
Mohammad Ahsanul Haque, Shahbagh police station Sub-inspector (SI) said the body of the newborn was found in the back side of the Dhaka University teacher’s residential quarters.
The body of the newborn is believed to have been one-day old, according to police.
Police said: “We want to hear from anyone who has any information concerning this incident, or from anybody who may be able to assist us [police] in identifying the mother of this dead infant.”
Investigation into the incident is already underway.
