Gulshan Society Traffic Management Committee has hosted a traffic law awareness program—aimed at reducing sound pollution caused by honking, teaching drivers good driving practices, and raising awareness about traffic laws—in Gulshan.
“Reducing congestion inside our neighbourhood requires the involvement of multiple stakeholders. It is up to car owners to ensure their drivers have obtained their licenses through official tests. We must ensure that drivers themselves not only know the laws, but follow them, too,” Gulshan Society Traffic Management Committee convener Shayaan Seraj said in a press release.
“Police play a critical role in enforcement. In my opinion, if each one of us plays a role in our own neighbourhoods—through continuous local awareness programs—we can gradually make improvements to the traffic flow on roads across the nation. Furthermore, horns should not be used unnecessarily,” he added.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Traffic North provided strategic support for the program, with Deputy Commissioner Probir Kumar Roy, Additional Deputy Commissioner Zakir Hossain, and Additional Commissioner Moin Islam in attendance.
Thursday's event was sponsored by Paramount’s O Natural, with volunteers from businesses established in Gulshan including: ABC, Aqua Paints, Elite Garments, Elite Steel, Pathao and Rahimafrooz.
There were more than 200 participants at the event.
