Fireman Rana’s body arrives

The body of fireman Sohel Rana, who sustained serious injuries during the FR Tower fire rescue operation and died at a hospital in Singapore early Monday, arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday night.

“The body of Rana arrived by a flight of Singpore Airlines around 10 pm, and senior officials of the Fire Service received the body,” Armed Police Battalion (APBn) ASP (Media) Mohammad Tarique Ahmed told BSS.

Rana’s body will be kept at the mortuary of the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.

His namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters on Tuesday.

Later in the day, the body will be sent to his ancestral home in Keruail under Itna upazila of Kishoreganj for burial.

The devastating fire at FR Tower that broke out on March 28 claimed the lives of 26 people and left many others injured. Sohel Rana is the 27th victim of the fire.

Sohel Rana, 34, was the son of Noor Islam, a farmer in Itna upazila of Kishoreganj.
