Bodies of two students found in Dhaka hotel

Police on Tuesday afternoon recovered the bodies of two students — a male and a female — from a residential hotel in the Farmgate area of Dhaka.

The deceased were identified as Aminul Islam Sajal, 21, a student of Political Science Department at Tejgaon College, and Moriam Akter Jerin, 21, a student of English Department at World University.

Tejgaon police station OC Majharul Islam said the duo had rented a hotel room after identifying themselves as a married couple on Monday evening.

The bodies were recovered from Samrat Hotel on Green Road at Farmgate around 3:30pm after police broke down the room door, he said.

He added the hotel authorities informed police when the duo did not come out of the room for a long time and housekeeping failed to get a response from them after knocking.

The bodies were later sent to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsies.

OC Majharul could not shed any light on their cause of death. “We will know how they died after autopsies. We have already started an investigation over the deaths.”
