Non-MPO teachers, employees continue demos for 4th day

Teachers and employees of non-MPO educational institutions have gathered in front of the National Press Club for the fourth consecutive day.

Thousands of protesters have been holding demonstrations, under the banner of "Non-MPO Educational Institutions Teachers' and Employees' Fedeartion" since Wednesday, demanding enlistment of their institutions under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme.

They demanded the intervention of the prime minister in resolving the issue.

On June 25 in 2018, teachers and employees of non-MPO educational institutions protested through hunger strikes, with the same demand.

However, on July 11 the same year, they called off their strike following government assurances of the fulfilment of their demands.

Similar reassurances had also been given on January 5, 2018, when non-MPO educational institutions teachers and employees gathered in front of the Press Club to start a continuous movement from December 26, 2017.

As of yet, their demands remain unfulfilled, which prompted the protesters to start demonstrations again from Wednesday.
