DU students boycott classes

Students have boycotted classes at Dhaka University (DU) amid protests being carried out by major panels who participated in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) polls.

The Dhaka Tribune reporter visited the TSC intersection of the university premises on Tuesday and witnessed the general students holding a demonstration, not attending classes.

The students claim that they will not attend any classes until the matter is resolved.

Opposition panels, along with students, protested at the TSC intersection, rejecting the Ducsu election results.

Chhatra Dal, BNP's student wing, also later joined in the opposition panel's protests.

The protest for a re-run of the election was announced on Monday, after candidates of different panels in the election boycotted the polls due to irregularities.

Earlier in the day, Chhatra League members gathered near the vice-chancellor's residence, protesting the results of the Ducsu election and demanding the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman.
