Despite reports that Nurul Huq Nur, a vice presidential candidate in the ongoing Dhaka University Central Students Union polls, was attacked while voting was underway in the campus, a pair of videos appear to show the young man collapsing from no apparent cause.
Around Monday afternoon, reports came in that the quota reform movement leader was attacked inside the women’s dormitory Rokeya Hall.
Nur was taken to Labaid Hospital. VP candidate for Chhatra League Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon told the media he was going there to check on him.
However, two videos that have emerged on the social media appear to show Nur suddenly sway and then collapse, while he was standing in the middle of a crowd inside the hall.
Students surrounding him quickly catch him and carry him away towards the exit. The videos do not show what happened before or after.
The Dhaka Tribune has not been able to independently verify the authenticity of these videos.
When the Dhaka Tribune tried to reach Nur, a female student inside Rokeya Hall answered his mobile phone and said she found the phone after he was attacked.
However, she was unable to disclose the identity of Nur's attacker.
Earlier in the day, another VP candidate, Liton Nandi, was reportedly attacked by the Chhatra League at Mohsin Hall.
