Three youths sustained burn injuries from a fire which broke out at a scrap-metal shop in Chawkbazar’s Kamalbagh area in Old Dhaka on Saturday afternoon, barely 10 days after a deadly fire in Old Dhaka’s Chawkbazar, which left 71 people dead.
The injured, Sumon, 32, with 18% burns, Nur-e-Alam, 30, with 30% burns, and Md Suman, 28, with 26% burns, were admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters Duty Officer, Kamrul Islam, confirmed and told the Dhaka Tribune that the fire broke out around 4:45pm, when the scrap-metal workers mistakenly scrapped a gas cylinder which still had gas in it.
Locals rushed to the spot and doused the fire before the Fire Service units arrived, added Kamrul.
