‘Trainer of JMB female members’ arrested in Dhaka

Rapid Action battalion (RAB) has arrested a person allegedly involved with the banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Dhaka.

He was arrested from Farmgate area in Dhaka on Thursday morning.

The man, identified Bappi Sarkar, 24, is a trainer of JMB’s female wing, RAB said.

RAB 2 Superintendent of Police Mohiuddin Faruque told the Dhaka Tribune that the agency had intelligence on Bappi as a militant. ARAB team conducted a raid in Farmgate area and arrested Bappi when he got off a bus.

“We recovered some extremist books and training manualsfrom his possession. We have been searching him long time. A case has against him in Jatrabari police station, he added.

Bappi has been involved in militancy for seven or eight years, he said.

“More information will be revealed in further interrogation,” he added.
