Rain disrupts city life, weather may improve by Friday

Rainfall on Wednesday disrupted the normal life of the city dwellers, as the Meteorological Department of Bangladesh (BMD) recorded 33mm of rainfall in the capital by this afternoon.

The rain, however, will continue till Thursday across the country while the weather would likely improve by Friday morning, said a BMD official.

The daylong rainfall triggered by the influence of frequent thunderstorm activity affected the month long Amar Ekushey Book Fair on the Bangla Academy premises and its adjoining Suhrawardy Udyan in the city.

Due to the torrential downpour, commuters, mainly the office and school goers were the worst sufferers.

The Met office recorded highest rainfall 53mm in Faridpur while 41mm in Chuadanga and 36mm in Ishwardi till this afternoon.

Besides, the Met office issued a warning asking the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra to keep hoisting local cautionary signal number three.
