Rain causes distress to Dhaka residents

Bangladesh experienced around 20mm of rainfall coupled with hailstorm, thunderstorm, and temporary gusty wind, under the influence of seasonal low that lies over South Bay.

In the first week of Bengali month of Falgun, the Dhaka residents woke up to see the unusual rainfall in the spring on Sunday morning.

Several areas of Dhaka were inundated due to the rain, causing huge distress to residents, including school, college and officers goers, in the morning.

The rainfall occurred as the trough of westerly low lies over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh, according to the Met office.

In its latest bulletin, the Met office said rain and thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Mymensingh divisions.

The night temperature may fall by 1-2°C over Bangladesh, it said.
