To mark the International Mother Language Day, which is on February 21, International Hope School Bangladesh (ITHS) is organizing the olympiad in an effort to promote the practice of Bangla in this month among students of English version schools, said organizers.
Coordinator of the olympiad Kamrul Ahsan said they are going to host the program in continuation of previous years where students will take part in poem recitation, singing, drawing, public speaking, dance and essay competitions.
Noted cultural personalities and educationists will be present at the event as advisers and judges, he added.
Online registration for the olympiad began on December 6 and will continue till February 13, he said.
The event will be held at ITHS campus at Uttara from 8.30am to 4.30pm on the day.
Principal of ITHS Roksana Jerin said they are continuously working on the issue so that the students of English version schools can increase their capacity and hold on mother tongue Bangla.
With the local students, foreign students of different schools can also take part in the event, she said.
ITHS has been hosting the event since 2011. Last year, about 1,600 students from 100 schools took part in the olympiad.
