A balloon vendor has been killed and several others injured after a gas cylinder exploded at Dhaka Shikkha Board Laboratory School and College compound in Dhaka's Mirpur area.
The deceased was identified as Siddique, 50.
Darussalam police station Officer-in-Charge Selim-uz-Zaman said Siddique went to the school compound, on Friday, to sell gas-filled balloons to students attending the annual sports day.
Around 8am, the gas cylinder exploded, injuring Siddique and several others, including students.
Siddique died on the spot; his body has been sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital morgue, OC Selim said.
The others did not sustained serious injuries, and are receiving primary treatment, the OC added.
