Six members of Khaleda Zia’s family have visited the incarcerated BNP chairperson at the old Dhaka central jail.
The visitors are – Khaleda’s younger brother Shamim Iskander, sister Selima Islam, sister-in-law Kaniz Fatema, nephews Abhik Iskander and Dr Mamun, and Zobaida Rahman’s sister Shahina Khan Zaman.
They entered the jail premises around 4pm on Tuesday and left after about an hour and a half.
Former prime minister Khaleda is serving a five-year jail term in a corruption case.
She has been kept at the old Dhaka central jail since February 8 after a Dhaka court found her and five others, including her son Tarique Rahman, guilty of embezzling over Tk21 million from foreign donations intended for a charity named after Khaleda’s husband Ziaur Rahman.
