Dhaka to host 2nd South Asia Maritime Forum in October

The Second South Asia Maritime and Logistics Forum (SAMLF) will be held under the joint aegis of the Ministry of Shipping of Bangladesh in association with Gateway Media (Pvt) Ltd of India and Colombo International Maritime Conference Event (CIMC) of Sri Lanka, reports UNB.

An inter-ministerial meeting was held at the secretariat here on Thursday led by Secretary Abdus Samad of the ministry to hold the forum successfully.

Abdus Samad said: “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the program on October 9 as chief guest and Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan will preside over the program.

Minister, secretary and higher officials of shipping sector related trade and industry of 20 countries including India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Nepal will attend the program as well.”

Development and possible investment in the shipping sector, solution of barriers in regional trade, ship building including dredging and others related to the sector will be discussed in the two-day forum.

The Second South Asia Maritime and Logistics Forum (SAMLF) 2018 will be held at the Hotel Le Meridian on October 9 and 10.
