Dhaka residents experienced the hottest day of the year on Thursday, with the highest temperature recorded at 37.6°C.
According to the met office, the searing heat was compounded by extreme humidity, recorded at 62.5%.
The temperature in Dhaka rose by 3°C in the last 24 hours, as the highest temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 34.7°C.
Dhaka experienced its highest temperature in the last five decades on April 22, 2014, at 40.2°C.
