The committee, formed to review the existing quota system in public service, will gather more relevant information and reports from home and abroad in a week.
“We will collect all the information related to the quotas from home and abroad within a week and then come up with a set of recommendations,” Public Administration Ministry's Joint Secretary Abul Kashem Md Mohiuddin, spokesperson of the committee, told reporters after a meeting on Sunday.
The seven-member committee held its first meeting at the Secretariat.
Kashem said the second meeting will be held once all the information and reports are gathered.

On whether anybody else would be added to the committee, Kashem said: “We will come to a decision about this after gathering all information and reports.”
Earlier, on July 2, the Public Administration Ministry formed the committee to review, reform, or revoke the existing quota system in government jobs.
The committee has been asked to submit its report within 15 working days.
In April, students of public and private universities across Bangladesh waged a movement demanding reforms to the quota system.
On April 11, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the abolition of all quotas in public jobs, in response to the movement.

No gazette notification, corresponding to the prime minister's declaration on abolishing the quota system, has been issued so far.
On June 30, the leaders of the council gathered in front Dhaka University’s central library to announce their renewed protests.
However, they were reportedly attacked by Bangladesh Chhatra League activists, which triggered protests at different universities across the country.
