Bangladesh’s first International Magic Convention kicks off on April 26

Bangladesh’s first ever International Magic Convention is set to be held from April 26-28 at the National Art Academy and National Museum in Dhaka. The Bangladesh Magicians’ Council announced the program through a press conference at the National Press Club on Thursday. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will open the convention. “It will be a big platform and gathering place for magicians, where they will get the chance to exchange and share knowledge. Bangladeshi magicians will compete with their international counterparts, and this competition will help improve the quality of magic,” Bangladesh Magicians’ Council President Safir Ullah Shikdar said. “The main objective of this convention is to judge our quality in comparison to the international level. We don’t know now where our position is with regard to international standards,” he added. Meanwhile, designated star performer of the convention Moniruzzaman Liton said magicians from India, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Japan, Italy, France, Canada and American would participate, in addition to young magicians from Bangladesh. “Some prominent international magicians will perform, and those shows will be free for Bangladeshi viewers,” he added. Magician Moazzem Hossain said magic is an art form which is in ruins due to a lack of attention. “Only one magician, Jewel Aich, has received the ekushey padak,” he said Magicians wishing to attend may register through the official website of the magic convention. Prominent magicians Moinul Khan and Ali Raz, as well as RFL Electronics General Manager Mahbubul Wahid, were present at the press conference, among others.
