Gonojagoron Moncho launched an instant protest against the attack on prominent writer and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Professor Md Zafar Iqbal on Saturday Evening.
The activists’ platform brought out a torch-lit procession from Shahbagh and paraded through in front of Hotel Intercontinental to TSC, before circling back to the starting point.
Gonojagoron Moncho Spokesperson Imran H Sarker announced another protest against the attack at the procession, to be held at Projonmo Chattar on Sunday at 4pm.
Imran said the government could not deny responsibility for the attack on Prof Zafar Iqbal, claiming the failure to submit the charge sheet in the Avijit Roy murder case after 32 attempts proved that it patronized terrorism.

He also called for the immediate arrest of anyone involved in the attack, with the assailant already in custody.
Meanwhile, Sachetan Nagarik Samaj, Bangladesh Chhatra Maitri and Dhaka University’s cultural organization Slogan 71 also launched individual protests against the attack at Shahbagh after Gonojagoron Moncho’s procession.
Furthermore, the Dhaka University Teachers' Association (DUTA) has condemned and criticized the attack on Prof Zafar Iqbal and will organize a human chain at the base of the Aparajeo Bangla statue on Monday, DUTA president ASM Maksud Kamal confirmed.
