Ten activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League have sustained burn injuries from a fire caused by gas balloon explosions on Saturday morning.
The incident took place around 10:30am when the activists were on their way to a rally on a bus. The rally was organized to observe the ruling party student wing's 70th founding anniversary.
The injured activists are Shourov, Akash, Rana, Rifat, Rayhan, Mehedi Hasan Hira, Rowshon and Kabbo. Names of two others could not be ascertained. All of them were members of Uttara Chhatra League's West wing.
Police said the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital burn unit following the incident and are undergoing treatment there.

Bangla TribuneConfirming the matter, DMCH Police Outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector Babul Miah said: “The activists were on their way to a rally on a rented bus of Raida Paribahan.
“All of them had gas balloons on their hands which started to explode at a point in the journey, causing a fire.”
However, the cause of the explosion is still unknown, he added.
