How to go to Dhaka International Trade Fair 2018

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has provided specific guidelines on the occasion of the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) 2018 to ensure smooth traffic movement around the fair area, parking spots, and facilitate visitors' entry and exit.

Parking spots around DITF area:

*Parking 1: The empty space between the trade fair’s VIP gate and the main gate *Parking 2: The empty space adjacent to the trade fair’s gate number 2 *Parking 3: Colony grounds opposite RAB 2 office *Parking 4: Government colony grounds on the north side of RAB 2 office *Motorbike parking: The empty space on the west side of the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), in front of the traffic control and command centre, and the empty grounds in the PWD office.

Instructions for coming to DITF by car

*Those coming to the fair via Mirpur road from New Market and Dhanmondi will have to use the road opposite the Residential College leading to the Defense Ministry or the new road of Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital to enter the fair using Ganabhaban High School crossing. They will have to use parking area 2. *Those coming from the direction of Gabtoli, Mohammadpur and adjoining areas will use the Shyamoli-Agargaon link road via Shishu Mela Crossing. They will have to enter through the Sher-e-Bangla Adarsha Mohila College gate and park their vehicles at government colony grounds (Parking 3) opposite of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University and RAB 2 office before entering the fair. *Those coming from Pallabi, Kazipara, Shewrapara and adjoining areas will have to turn right at the Agargaon light crossing and pass through the Sher-e-Bangla Adarsha Mohila College gate and then take the Shyamoli-Agargaon link road. Visitors will park their cars at the colony grounds, opposite RAB 2 office, and the adjacent grounds at Parking 4. *Those coming via the aeroplane crossing will enter the trade fair through the road between the BICC and the Election Commission Secretariat and use Parking 1. *Those coming to the fair on motorcycles will have to park their vehicles at the west side of the BICC, in front of the traffic control and command centre, and the empty grounds in the PWD office. However, they have to take care of their helmets. *There will be parking arrangements on the fair premises in exchange for a certain amount of fee. Traffic police have requested everyone to park their vehicles at the allotted parking spots and keep all goods and personal belongings safe.

Exiting the fair:

*To get out of DITF from Parking 1, visitors will have to go to the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Shikkha Prokoushol Bhaban using the PWD crossing and then take a right before reaching the Begum Rokeya Sarani. *Those getting out of the fair from Parking 2 will have to use the Mirpur Road. They will first need to use the Ganabhaban High School crossing and then Agriculture University connecting road leading to the Mirpur road. *Exiting from Parking 3 and 4, visitors have to use either the Mirpur road or Begum Rokeya Sarani by passing through the Shyamoli-Agargaon Link Road.

Traffic movement on public holidays:

On public holidays, the movement of vehicles will be controlled around the Dhaka International Trade Fair and surrounding areas. *Rickshaws, vans, and carts will not be allowed from Khamarbari to Agargaon light crossing on public holidays when DITF is in progress. *To facilitate traffic control, visitors will not be allowed to enter the fair using the Agargaon link road (new road) and BICC crossing on public holidays including Fridays and Saturdays. Those accessing the aforementioned roads have been requested to pass through the Agargaon light crossing.

Diversions:

During the Dhaka International Trade Fair, Dhaka Metropolitan Traffic Police has requested using alternative routes while commuting. Exceptions have been made for those working at the public and government offices and trade fair visitors. The diversions are: *From BICC crossing to the Defense Ministry crossing, via the Ganabhaban School. *From the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital’s new road (west end) and the hospital's gate to BICC via Ganabhaban School and PWD crossing. *From Sher-e-Bangla Adarsha Mohila College gate to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Shikkha Prokoushol Bhaban crossing to Parade Square Rokeya Sarani crossing (Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University gap).This article was first published on Bangla Tribune
