The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have asked residential hotels in the city to abide by some rules for keeping boarders.
DMP Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia said police would take action against hotel authorities if they ignore the instructions.
Eight instructions were issued after a militant blew himself up at Hotel Olio International at Panthapath, about 300 yards from Bangbandhu Memorial Museum, on August 15.

A letter containing the instructions has already been circulated throughout the city, OCs of all police stations under DMP said.
The instructions are – to keep photos of boarders along with their detailed information, their active mobile phone numbers, to install archways with metal detectors for scanning everyone when entering the hotel.
In the letter, the DMP also directed the hotels to search boarders every time they enter the hotel, to scan bags and luggage of everyone, to keep CCTV cameras active round the clock and to scan boarders’ vehicles.
The letter, signed by the DMP commissioner, said police were collecting information on tenants living in Dhaka to maintain law and order, and especially to curb militancy.
If residential hotels do not take strict security measures, it would be easy for miscreants to rent hotels and carry out their misdeeds, the letter added.
