He made the remark while addressing a program at Dhaka University Senate building on Sunday.
He said: “Dramas that are telecast on TV channels present female as a conspirator in a family where female actress used to slander each other.
The minister said torture and repression on female are shown as the focal point in TV serials which encourage people to sexually harass women.
Minister Nasim asked the youth audience present how a person can capture video footage of women being assaulted instead of protesting. He referred to the incident of Khadiza, the girl who was viciously hacked by a stalker in Sylhet in September.
He urged the young generation to step forward and actively combat sexual harassment.
The seminar, titled “Campus Hero Cafe” was organised jointly by the Centre of Men and Masculinities Studies and Department of Women and Gender Studies.
The programme saw the inauguration of two mobile applications named “Mamu Challenger” and “Priyo Baba” which can give information to users on sexual and reproductive health.
Professor Nasreen Ahmad, pro-vice chancellor of Dhaka University, MP Nahim Razzaq, Ayesha Khanam, president of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad and Sayed Saikh Imtiaz, chairperson of Women and Gender studies Department attended the programme.
