Endorsement of the United Nations should be taken into careful consideration in civil, military and multinational cooperation, said Gowher Rizvi, adviser to the prime minister.
After a plenary session on day three of the ongoing 38th Pacific Armies Management Seminar, he said: “In recent times we have seen instability rising in many Asian countries; the same is happening in Europe... Sometimes we are compelled to assist other countries. For that we need to consider what UN says as it works for the entire world.”
Rizvi was a moderator at the panel discussion, titled “Civil-Military and multinational cooperation: The essential elements for future stability.”
“Sometimes, we see groups that are identified as terrorists in one country but are supported by other countries. This creates confusion for international cooperation,” he said.
No civil representatives were present in the discussion although it was partly on civil-military cooperation.
When a Bangladesh Army official pointed this out, Rizvi said: “The presence of civil representatives is important here. We hope to have them with us in the next PAMS event.”
