Ecnec approves eight development projects worth Tk3,171cr

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) has approved eight development projects worth Tk3, 171.96cr.
The government will provide Tk2, 579.40cr from the national exchequer to implement the projects, while the rest of the amount will come from development partners including the World Bank.
Planning Minister AHM Mustofa Kamal disclosed this at a press briefing at the Planning Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday following an Ecnec meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The projects include improving navigability on the Mongla- Chandpur-Mowa-Gowalondo-Pakshi route at the cost of Tk956cr, protecting the Horina ferry terminal from soil erosion in Chandpur at Tk190.77cr, establishing a textile engineering college in Sylhet at Tk110.37cr, and developing three land ports at Sheola in Sylhet, Bhomra in Satkhira and at Ramgarh in Khagrachhari at Tk693cr. The World Bank will provide around Tk592.56cr for development of the land ports.
