825 families to get houses in Mymensingh

Some 825 landless and homeless families in Mymensingh will get new houses as gifts from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina under the third phase of the Ashrayan Project.

Of the total, construction works of 553 houses have been completed. The rest of the 272 houses will be handed over to the beneficiary families by December.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will launch the distribution of the houses with land ownership documents and keys to the beneficiary families through a videoconferencing from Ganabhaban on Tuesday," said Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Enamul Haque.

He disclosed the information while addressing a press conference on Sunday.

Each of the semi pucca houses was built at a cost of Tk150,000. All preparations have already been completed in this regard.

The DC also informed reporters that a total of 1,950 houses had already been distributed among the beneficiaries in two phases in the district. 

In the first phase, a total of 1305 houses and in the second phase, a total of 645 houses were handed over to the homeless people in all 13 upazilas of the district.
