Ecnec greenlights Tk2,474.65cr infrastructure development projects

The approval came from the 15th Ecnec meeting on the current fiscal year held at the NEC conference room where the Ecnec Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the event.
After the meeting, the Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal informed that a total of six projects were approved with an overall cost of Tk2,474.65cr, reports UNB.
"Of the total cost for these projects, Tk2,002.35cr will come from the national exchequer while the rest of Tk472.30cr from project assistance," he said.
The minister said the procurement of equipment and machinery for repairing and maintenance and road infrastructure construction project would be implemented at an estimated cost of Taka 585.88 crore.
The Roads and Highways Department will implement the project by December 2017, he said adding that the government will provide Tk113.58cr of the total project cost while Tk472.30cr will come as project assistance.
The ECNEC meeting also approved the first revision of the construction of some 156 fire service and civil defence stations at important upazila headquarters with an estimated cost of Tk1,258cr.
The Fire Service and Civil Defence Department and Public Works Department are jointly implementing the project at 156 upazilas across the country, reports BSS.
The other projects are infrastructural development of Langalband Mohastami Punnasnan festival with Tk120.74cr, protecting Ramnewaj launch terminal areas under Manpura upazila and Ghosherhat launch terminal under Charfassion upazila of Bhola from river erosion with Tk280.69cr, approach road widening and other necessary infrastructural development for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park, Gazipur with Tk70.32cr and enriching Bangla language in ICT through research and development with Tk159.02cr.
Out of the six projects approved, five are new and the sixth is a revised proposal.
