A dacoit has been killed in a gunfight between police and dacoits at Prahari Vita on Zinzira-Nababganj road under Keraniganj of Dhaka on Sunday night.
Police said the dacoits were committing robbery in different transports by cutting trees and blocking the road, reports BSS.
On information, a team of police rushed to the scene and tried to capture the dacoits.
During the time, the dacoits opened fire on the police, who countered by returning fire. As a result, one dacoit was killed and the others managed to escape.
Police also recovered 10 to 12 pieces of sharp weapons from the spot.
The body was sent to Mitford Hospital morgue for autopsy.
A case was filed with Keraniganj police in this connection.
