Customs Intelligence officials have detained three members of a family with 3.975kg gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The detainees are Main Uddin, 42, his wife Abida Sultana, 33, and their son Muzakkir Moin, 5.
They were detained after their arrival at the airport from Kuala Lumpur around 7am Sunday, according to a text message sent by the Customs Intelligence Department.
According to the message, smugglers were using the three as a carrier to smuggle gold.
Ten gold bars and ornaments were recovered from the bodies of the detainees and the estimated price of the gold is Tk1.80 crore.
