BNP activist held with 40 bombs in city

A BNP activist was detained with 20 petrol bombs and 20 crude bombs from Jatrabari area in the capital yesterday.

A RAB 10 team raided a house in the area and arrested Rezaur Rahman Fahim, 31, said RAB Media Wing Deputy Director Rumman Mahmud. The bombs were found in a bag the youth was carrying, he added.

The RAB official said Fahim was also a key suspect in the bomb blast incident at a recent procession led by Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan near BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office.

RAB officials said Fahim used to work for Abdul Alim Nakib, the secretary of Ward No 19 of city unit BNP.  Nakib used to hire people for setting fire on vehicles and hurling petrol bombs.

Quoting Fahim, the officials said Nakib asked the youth to carry out vandalism in Gulshan area and allured him of giving a good political post if BNP comes to power.
