A high official of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation arrived in Dhaka yesterday to help investigate the killing of secular blogger-writer Avijit Roy.
A high officer of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrival of the FBI official. The officer, who preferred not to be named, could not say when the FBI officer landed in Dhaka.
Talking to reporters at his Minto Road headquarters on Monday, Joint Commissioner of DB Monirul Islam said a high FBI official would arrive in the city very soon.
On March 4, a four-member FBI team arrived in Dhaka to assist the Bangladeshi law enforcement agencies to investigate the murder case. They are still in Dhaka. All physical evidence of the incident have already been handed over to the FBI team for DNA tests.
On February 26, Avijit, founder of Mukta-Mona blog, was hacked to death and his wife Rafida Ahmed Bonya injured seriously by unidentified assailants them at TSC intersection on Dhaka University campus.
