A police constable has given confessional statement before a Sylhet court of his involvement in a schoolboy abduction and killing.
The policeman is Ebadur Rahman who was earlier arrested after the decomposed body of the schoolboy was found in his house.
Ebadur gave the statement under section 164 of the code of criminal procedure before the Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court 1 of Judicial Magistrate Shahedul Karim, court sources told the Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Abdul Matin, father of deceased Abu Sayeed, lodged a murder case against six people including police constable Ebadur.
Police recovered the decomposed body of Abu Sayeed, a class IV student of a primary school, from constable Ebadur's house no 37 in Kumarpara Jharnarpar residential area in Sylhet on Saturday night.
Police detained constable Ebadur, district Olama League Secretary Abdur Rakib and RAB-police source Geda Mia for their alleged involvement in the abduction and murder.
Quoting victim's father, Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Rahmat Ullah said: "Sayeed was abducted on Tuesday evening. The abductors first demanded Tk5 lakh and then Tk2 lakh ransom."
Then Abdul Motin filed a general diary with Kotwali police station on Wednesday night.
Later, police and RAB tried to rescue Sayeed through tracking signal of the mobile phone used for the ransom call.
RAB 9 Company Commander ASP Mainuddin Chowdhury said they could not track exact location of the abductors as they were changing their location frequently.
