Police have recovered the body of a Jubo Dal leader of Lakshmipur from Deila Bazar area in Noakhali.
The deceased is Israfil Ahmed, 30, son of Mokbul Ahmed of Kashipur village and the joint convener of Jubo Dal's Boshikpur union unit in Lakshmipur.
Chatkhi OC Abul Khayer said Israfil's body was found on Thursday morning.
He said: “Israfil is from Lakshmipur. Assailants must have hacked him to death and dumped him here.”
“Injury marks have been noticed on his body. The body has been sent to Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy,” he added.
Lakshmipur sadar upazila BNP unit Assistant President Mahbubur Rahman Khokon has confirmed Israfil's political identity.
On the other hand, Lakshmipur's Chondroganj police station OC Md Humayun Kobir said: “Masked miscreants kidnapped Israfil on Wednesday night.”
Earlier, Md Shohag and Israfil were shot by miscreants in Kashipur village at night.
Later, locals took Shohah to district sadar hospital, however, they did not find Israfil in the spot.
Police have detained Shohag and his elder brother Jamal Uddin over the matter.
