A gang of miscreants have cut off the wrists of a young man in Jhenaidah town.
The injured is Tarikul Islam Ukti, son of Waliul Islam, of Adarshapara in the district town.
He was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, police said.
Jhenaidah Sadar police Sub Inspector Aminul Islam said the miscreants swooped on Ukti when he arrived near Priya Cinema Hall in the town on Wednesday afternoon.
The miscreants hacked at his wrists, cutting them off entirely. They also hacked at his legs.
He was first rushed to Jhenaidah General Hospital. But the hospital authority referred him to DMCH as his condition was deteriorating.
Police said Ukti was the second accused in the Sabuj killing case in Kanchannagarpara in Jhenaidah.
He was absconding for the past few months. Supporters of Sabuj might attack Ukti again to take revenge.
