One held with petrol and crude bombs

Police arrested a BNP man in possession of six petrol bombs and four crude bombs in a drive at Kacha Bazar of Akbar Shah in Chittagong city early yesterday. 

The arrestee was Md Tipu Sultan alias Liton, 32, from Barguna district, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Raju Ahmed Gazi of Akbar Shah police station. Liton is also a local gangster of Akbar Shah, and an accused in several cases lodged with Khulshi and Panchlaish police stations, said the SI. 

Following a tip off, police conducted a raid at his residence in Bishwa Colony of Akbar Shah and arrested Liton. Later, police recovered the bombs from inside a carton that Liton kept under his bed, said the SI.

During the primary interrogation, Liton said he amassed the explosives to carry out subversive activities in support of the ongoing political turmoil. A case was lodged with Akbar Shah police station in this regard.
