BNP supporters attacked two photojournalists during a clash with police at Puthia upazila in Rajshahi yesterday.
Azahar Uddin, a photojournalist of the Dhaka Tribune, and Rayhan, a cameraman from Channel 24, were attacked around 4:45pm.
According to Azahar, he was returning home after taking some photos in Natore, where two people were killed in an Awami League-BNP clash.
When he reached the upazila’s Baneshwar, he found the BNP supporters trying to break the police barricade. He went there to take some photos of the incident and found Channel 24 cameraman Rayhan being attacked with sticks and iron rods.
“I rushed there and they also attacked me with brick chips, leaving me to bleed,” the Dhaka Tribune photojournalist said, adding that his camera was also vandalised by the attackers.
He added BNP attackers later apologised and requested him not to publish this incident in the newspaper.
