A case has been filed against five persons for assaulting a police officer in Lakshmipur.
Detective Branch of police (DB) Sub-Inspector Mohammad Mustafa Anwar filed the case with Sadar Police Station at 11 pm on Thursday night.
According to the case statement, the DB official Mohammad Mustafa Anwar and his colleagues took a position at Chalkbazar area in plainclothes as part of their duty. All of a sudden a mini truck came to the scene and its driver Md Amir Hossain Dulal asked the DB men to move their motorcycle from the area.
Later, 4-5 men including Amir beat SI Mustafa as he questioned their identity.
After the incident a team of police rushed to the spot but they managed to flee away from the scene.
The injured police officer was treated at Sadar hospital.
Additional Superintended Nasim Mia confirmed the case to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said drives are underway to arrest the accused.
