A sub-inspector in Chuadanga has been closed on Sunday soon after his cousin was detained along with heroin in Damurhuda upazila.
Tobarak Ali was closed and an investigation was initiated in this connection, said Kamruzzaman, assistant superintendent of police in Chuadanga.
Officer-in-Charge of Damurhuda police station Kamruzzaman said Tobarak's posting was at Munshiganj police camp.
The police official's withdrawal was prompted by the detention of his cousin Mission Haque.
On Sunday night, a case was filed with Damurhuda police station in connection with the detention.
Assistant Sub-Inspector of the police station Niamul Haque said police found a bag containing 1.72kg heroin when they frisked Mission.
Mission was produced before court on Monday.
