A woman and her son have been hacked to death by unidentified assailants at Deula village under Baghmara upazila in Rajshahi.
The deceased are Aklima Begun, 45, wife of late Mojibur Rahman and their son Jahidul Islam, 25.
Locals found them dead in their house around 9am on Monday and informed the police.
They said someone might have killed Aklima and her son sometime on Sunday night.
Rajshahi Police Super Alamgir Kabir said: “The incident did not take place because of robbery. She had earlier punished by a mobile court for running prostitution business.”
“She might have been killed following the same issue,” he added.
He, however, said police are investigating the matter.
