Huge amount of low quality rice seized in Ctg

Detectives of Chittagong Metropolitan Police have seized a huge amount of rotten and low quality rice unfit for human consumption from a rice factory in the city. Acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted the drive at Agrani Food Industries located at BSCIC Industrial Area under Pahartali police station on Tuesday. The detective men also detained the owner, manager and some of employees of the rice factory. The police seized 170 sacks of rotten rice, 300 sacks of low quality rice and 226 sacks of rice with seals of Directorate General of Food from the factory. Keshob Chakraborty, inspector of DB, CMP told the Dhaka Tribune that they were interrogating the detained persons. “Primarily, we suspect that the rice factory was involved in mixing low quality rice with good rice and then marketed these,” said the DB Inspector.
