Detective Branch of police have arrested operation wing leader of banned Islamist militant outfit Harkat-ul Jihad Al-Islami Bangladesh (Huji-B) from the capital’s Sayedabad.
Deputy Commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
Masud said: “A team of DB police, in a drive, arrested the Huji-B leader from Sayedabad area on Tuesday night.”
The Huji-B leader has recently taken part in international militant training in abroad, he added.
In a press briefing, he said: “The detained was taught about arms handling, including AK-47, and their mechanism in the training titled 'Attack on soft and hard targets.' In the training, they [Huji-B members] were also taught how to hurl bombs.”
“They [Huji-B members] went to Pakistan in three phases for taking training and before going there, they took a seven-day preliminary training at a madrasa in Bangladesh,” he said.
