At least 20 Juba League activists were injured in a clash between two rival groups centering jhut business in Savar yesterday.
Local Juba League activists said followers of Sohel Rana, former convener of JL Savar unit, got involved in a clash with a local JL leader Selim Mondol's followers around 10:30am.
Witnesses said Sohel was controlling jhut business in the area since he held a position in the committee.
Recently a new committee was declared, where he held no position and since then Selim was trying to take control of the business.
Police sources said the conflict erupted when Sohel's followers tried to prevent Selim's men from entering the area yesterday.
The two groups attacked each other with locally made arms. During the clash an activist named Rasel, 32, was hit by a bullet.
The injured were admitted to Enam Medical College and Hospital.
Assistant Police Super of Savar Shafiqul Islam said police visited the area.
Additional forces were deployed to the area, he added.
