Cook Shah Alam, who killed 11-year-old boy at a Keraniganj madrasa with a kitchen cleaver, gave confessional statement at the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court yesterday.
He gave the statement in front of Dhaka senior judicial Magistrate Masud Parvez.
The general recording officer of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court said the court yesterday received confessional statement of Shah Alam. under section 164. He was later sent to Jail.
Court police source said Shah Alam confessed to have killed the boy. He tried to get hold of Abu Rayhan around 1am when the child was on his way to the toilet.
He attempted to rape Abu Rayhan, but the boy resisted and threatened to tell the authorities about what had happened earlier.
Shah Alam then dragged Abu Rayhan into the kitchen and slit his throat with a razor-sharp cleaver.
Early Monday police recovered the body of the boy from the floor of the madrasa kitchen.
Shah Alam, a 35-year-old cook, at Tahfizul Quran Nurani Hafezi Madrasa, admitted to have raped the same boy a month ago.
Dhaka Police Superintendent Habibur Rahman on Tuesday at a press briefing at the media and community centre of DMP said they had arrested Shah Alam and 10 other madrasa staff.
“After the primary investigation, we found evidence of Shah Alam’s involvement in the killing. We recovered a boti and blood-stained clothes from the madrasa kitchen.”
Victim’s father Md Murad Hossain filed a case against the madrasa administration, Officer-in-Charge Jamaluddin Mir of South Keraniganj police station said.
