Female journalist killed in road crash

A freelance female journalist died in a road crash in capital’s Rampura area yesterday.

The dead is identified as Sabiha Siddiqa, 32, daughter of late Sohrab Ahmed Siddiqui hailing from Faridpur.

She worked as a freelance reporter for different newspapers and was a member of the Quantum Foundation.

“A covered van hit Sabiha while she was crossing a road in Rampura bridge area around 3pm. Critically injured, she was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared her dead around 5:30pm,” said Shobhon Debnath a witness of the accident who took her to the hospital.

“Sabiha was on her way to Quantum Foundation Banasree branch from her residence in Shekhertek,” said Rabyea Siddiqa Snigdha, elder sister of the victim.
