In a written order, ACC Chairman M Badiuzzaman terminated assistant inspector Mofizur Rahman on October 14 after the ACC found proof of his involvement with cheating in Dhaka University DU and Jagannath University JnU admission tests in 2012, ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told the Dhaka Tribune.

On October 21, 2012, members of the Detective Branch of police arrested Mofizur and other nine people for helping examinees cheat in the admission tests.

During the arrest, the law enforcers also recovered wristwatch mobile phones from them which were being used to send answers to the examinees.

Soon after the incident surfaced, the commission on December 30, 2012 filed a departmental case against the official under the Anti Corruption Commission (Employees) Rules 2008.

Through a written letter, Mofizur later explained to the ACC clearing his position, but as the commission was not satisfied with the statement and conducted an inquiry.

Mofizur was found guilty according to the inquiry report.

“He was found guilty for misconduct, so the commission has decided to terminate him,” Pranab said.
