'Woman slaughtered' husband; body found after 10 days

A woman allegedly slaughtered her husband over family dispute and hid the body under the earth of the residence on October 6.

Police have recovered a dead body of the person under earth of his residence at Raozan upazila in Chittagong on Thursday morning.

Police detained the alleged killer, Shahnaz Begum, from the area.

The decomposed dead body of Dudu Mia, 32, was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradip Das of Raozan police station.

He said they recovered the body from the residence at Uttar Sarta village under upazila’s Chikaidar union around 8am after interrogating Shahnaz by receiving allegation form the victim’s relatives.

The OC said: "Shahnaz killed her husband over family feuds on the day of Eid-ul Azha. When the relatives of the victim asked Shahnaz about Dudu Mia she answered that her husband was not in house."

After getting same answer by repeated query, the neighbours and relatives suspected some unusual matter and informed the police, Pradip Das said quoting the locals and the victim’s relatives.

A case was lodged with Raozan police station in this connection while Shahnaz was being interrogated for the murder in the police station till filing of the report.
